The big day is finally here !
I had been dreaming about it for a long time: a project that would inspire me, allow me to create, travel and meet wonderful people… In short, something that truly feels like me.
I needed to be ready — if anyone ever really is! — and apparently, I needed to turn fifty. That was when I told myself: it’s now or never.
And so, the idea of UntoldSway began to come to life.
Of course, I knew I wouldn’t be able to do everything on my own. I would have to learn, search, ask questions, listen to advice… and probably make a few mistakes along the way.
The journey turned out to be much longer and more winding than I had imagined. Fortunately, I could always count on Greg, my husband. He has a rather special talent for encouraging people to keep going when they start to doubt themselves — and he certainly put that talent to good use with me!
First stop: Paris
In February 2025, we headed to Paris for the Première Vision trade show. Miles of fabrics, colours and textures, a head full of ideas… and the discovery of our first potential partners.
A few weeks later, I found myself in Turkey, where I began working on the first prototypes with a designer and a clothing manufacturer.
On paper, everything seemed to be going well.
In reality… not quite.
The prototypes didn’t live up to my expectations, communication and follow-up lacked clarity, and some of the production conditions simply didn’t align with the values we wanted our brand to stand for.
So we had to make a decision that is never easy when you have already invested so much time and energy: turn back.
Back to square one? Not really. More than anything, that first experience helped us understand more clearly what we wanted — and, above all, what we didn’t want.
Next stop: Portugal
So, in August 2025, we headed to Portugal to meet fabric manufacturers and small-scale clothing workshops.
And that’s when things started to fall into place.
The visits, conversations and encounters gradually confirmed that we were making the right choices: prioritising quality, working with respect for the people who bring our clothes to life, and favouring eco-friendly materials.
At the same time, I wanted to keep learning. At Texlab in Liège, I learned the fundamentals of textile materials, print design, brand identity… Learning also means questioning some of your assumptions and realising just how much you still don’t know! Eventually, I even managed to master vector drawing, allowing me to translate my sketches with precision.
We decided to do things “properly” and to work with professionals for our communications — Doris at Collerette and Cocobolo, to name but a few…
Little by little, the pieces of the puzzle began to come together.
This is how UntoldSway is being built, one step at a time.
Nothing was written in advance. The brand took shape through discoveries, encounters, mistakes and a few wonderful surprises along the way. One of the loveliest was the enthusiasm of our banker, Olivier Matagne (Belfius – Huy), when we presented our project to him. Thank you, Oli!
Ultimately, behind UntoldSway lies, above all, a personal adventure. When you dare to take the leap and give a slightly crazy idea — like creating your own clothing brand — a real chance, you truly feel alive!
With plenty of enthusiasm, a few doubts, a healthy dose of perseverance… and a husband who, thankfully, keeps saying: “Go for it!”
So yes, UntoldSway is much more than a clothing brand. It is an adventure that is deeply close to my heart, and a story that I am finally delighted to be able to share with you.
And this is only the beginning…
